This Will Be 2016's Biggest Piercing Trend

You know how it seems like just about every cool girl and model and cool-girl model got a septum piercing this year? Chances are J. Colby Smith is the man behind it. He's a piercing artist in New York City who works out of piercing mecca New York Adorned, and he's responsible for the scores of celebrity piercings (Zoë Kravitz, Imaan Hammam, Abbey Lee Kershaw, and Sky Ferreira are all among his clientele) that have been fueling the more-holes-the-better craze lately. "I try to be on the forefront of trends, rather than following them," says Smith. "I do some things for a while, and then when that gets exhausted, I move on to other things." He let me in on what he thinks the next major piercing trend will be, how to look cool but not "too crazy," and how get a great piercing—even if you don't live in New York City.
